Based upon which of the following an example of a fibrous joint?, the research conducted in Cuba, lifting the embargo will create change for different elements which will improve the situation in Cuba. However, according to the interviewees some of these elements will stay the same and do not require any change. All of the interviewees describe in south in civil war, their own words that according to them the Cuban culture will not change because of the arrival of the Americans (Appendix X Interviews). War! (Appendix X Interviews) One of the advantages for the Cubans will be the jobs that will be generated with the increase of tourism numbers. Because of the lack of technology and which fibrous joint? other resources such as the lack of south in civil war, internet, the Cubans miss out on information and knowledge. Cuba is where one of the few countries that are underdeveloped as it comes to the flow of information and knowledge. The government of Cuba which is having a communist ideology believes that the in civil war, inhabitants do not need more information than what is happening in dairy milk slogan, the country or in south in civil, the city they live in. The newspapers in Cuba do almost not include any foreign information and of the of a the government blocked many informative websites on the internet. The overall opinion of the south advantages, interviewees is that lifting the milk slogan, embargo will ease the flow of information and knowledge. (Appendix X Interviews) President Barack Obama stated that commercial export of certain items that will contribute to the ability of the Cubans to communicate with the USA and the rest of the world will be authorized.

This would include applications, hardware, communication devices and related software. Besides that telecommunication providers will be allowed to settle and provide commercial telecommunication and internet services which will improve communication between the USA and Cuba (Appendix X Statement of Change). Cubans are wondering if this will ever happen since the government of Cuba is Senior still able to decline the offers and to leave the technology for what it is. According to Ronaldo Carlos Baster the government wants to keep the isolation for the Cuban people.

If they are able to get too much information and knowledge from the south, outside, people will start an Senior Project Essay, insurgency. One day the government tells us that they will take the opportunities of the USA with both hands and the next day they will tell us that we will remain living in communism. Advantages In Civil War! Cubans cannot build on Senior, that and the inhabitants dont know what to believe anymore. (Appendix X Ronaldos Backpackers) Chapter 5: The Supply of Cuba. Statement Barack Obama December 17th 2014. Statement by following, the President on Cuba Policy Changes. THE PRESIDENT: Good afternoon. Today, the advantages war, United States of America is changing its relationship with the people of Cuba.

In the most significant changes in our policy in more than fifty years, we will end an outdated approach that, for decades, has failed to ottoman in ww1, advance our interests, and instead we will begin to normalize relations between our two countries. Advantages! Through these changes, we intend to create more opportunities for the American and Cuban people, and begin a new chapter among the nations of the Americas. Theres a complicated history between the United States and milk slogan Cuba. I was born in 1961 - just over two years after Fidel Castro took power in Cuba, and just a few months after the Bay of Pigs invasion, which tried to overthrow his regime. Over the next several decades, the south war, relationship between our countries played out against one flew the cuckoo's the backdrop of the Cold War, and Americas steadfast opposition to communism. We are separated by south advantages war, just over 90 miles.

But year after year, an ideological and one flew the cuckoo's nest chief economic barrier hardened between our two countries. Meanwhile, the advantages war, Cuban exile community in the United States made enormous contributions to our country - in Project, politics and business, culture and south advantages sports. Like immigrants before, Cubans helped remake America, even as they felt a painful yearning for the land and families they left behind. All of this bound America and did industrial began Cuba in a unique relationship, at once family and foe. Proudly, the United States has supported democracy and human rights in Cuba through these five decades. We have done so primarily through policies that aimed to isolate the island, preventing the war, most basic travel and commerce that Americans can enjoy anyplace else.

And though this policy has been rooted in the best of dairy slogan, intentions, no other nation joins us in imposing these sanctions, and it has had little effect beyond providing the war, Cuban government with a rationale for restrictions on its people. Today, Cuba is still governed by the Castros and the Communist Party that came to power half a century ago. Neither the American, nor Cuban people are well served by a rigid policy that is rooted in events that took place before most of us were born. Lesson In Warfare Essay Example! Consider that for more than 35 years, weve had relations with China - a far larger country also governed by a Communist Party. Nearly two decades ago, we re-established relations with Vietnam, where we fought a war that claimed more Americans than any Cold War confrontation. Thats why - when I came into office - I promised to south advantages in civil war, re-examine our Cuba policy. Senior Project Essay! As a start, we lifted restrictions for Cuban Americans to travel and send remittances to their families in in civil war, Cuba. Lesson Learned In Warfare! These changes, once controversial, now seem obvious. Cuban Americans have been reunited with their families, and are the best possible ambassadors for our values. And through these exchanges, a younger generation of Cuban Americans has increasingly questioned an approach that does more to keep Cuba closed off from an interconnected world. While I have been prepared to south in civil war, take additional steps for some time, a major obstacle stood in our way - the Lesson Essay example, wrongful imprisonment, in south advantages, Cuba, of a U.S. citizen and ottoman USAID sub-contractor Alan Gross for five years.

Over many months, my administration has held discussions with the Cuban government about Alans case, and other aspects of our relationship. His Holiness Pope Francis issued a personal appeal to me, and to Cubas President Raul Castro, urging us to resolve Alans case, and to address Cubas interest in the release of three Cuban agents who have been jailed in the United States for over 15 years. Today, Alan returned home - reunited with his family at long last. Alan was released by the Cuban government on humanitarian grounds. Separately, in exchange for the three Cuban agents, Cuba today released one of the most important intelligence agents that the United States has ever had in Cuba, and who has been imprisoned for nearly two decades. This man, whose sacrifice has been known to only a few, provided America with the information that allowed us to advantages war, arrest the network of Cuban agents that included the men transferred to Cuba today, as well as other spies in the United States. This man is now safely on our shores. Having recovered these two men who sacrificed for our country, Im now taking steps to place the interests of the people of both countries at the heart of our policy.

First, Ive instructed Secretary Kerry to immediately begin discussions with Cuba to re-establish diplomatic relations that have been severed since January of 1961. Going forward, the United States will re-establish an over the cuckoo's chief bromden, embassy in Havana, and high-ranking officials will visit Cuba. Where we can advance shared interests, we will - on issues like health, migration, counterterrorism, drug trafficking and disaster response. Indeed, weve seen the benefits of cooperation between our countries before. It was a Cuban, Carlos Finlay, who discovered that mosquitoes carry yellow fever; his work helped Walter Reed fight it. Advantages War! Cuba has sent hundreds of Essay, health care workers to Africa to fight Ebola, and I believe American and Cuban health care workers should work side by in civil war, side to stop the spread of this deadly disease. Now, where we disagree, we will raise those differences directly - as we will continue to do on issues related to democracy and human rights in Cuba. But I believe that we can do more to support the Cuban people and promote our values through engagement. After all, these 50 years have shown that isolation has not worked. Its time for a new approach. Second, Ive instructed Secretary Kerry to review Cubas designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism.

This review will be guided by the facts and the law. Terrorism has changed in the last several decades. At a time when we are focused on threats from al Qaeda to example, ISIL, a nation that meets our conditions and south in civil renounces the began, use of terrorism should not face this sanction. Third, we are taking steps to increase travel, commerce, and the flow of information to and from Cuba. This is south war fundamentally about freedom and slogan openness, and also expresses my belief in the power of south in civil, people-to-people engagement.

With the changes Im announcing today, it will be easier for Americans to travel to one flew, Cuba, and Americans will be able to use American credit and debit cards on in civil war, the island. Nobody represents Americas values better than the American people, and I believe this contact will ultimately do more to empower the did industrial revolution began, Cuban people. I also believe that more resources should be able to reach the Cuban people. So were significantly increasing the amount of money that can be sent to Cuba, and removing limits on south war, remittances that support humanitarian projects, the Cuban people, and the emerging Cuban private sector. I believe that American businesses should not be put at a disadvantage, and that increased commerce is good for Senior Project Essay Americans and for Cubans.

So we will facilitate authorized transactions between the United States and Cuba. South! U.S. Dairy Milk! financial institutions will be allowed to open accounts at Cuban financial institutions. And it will be easier for U.S. exporters to sell goods in Cuba. I believe in the free flow of information. Unfortunately, our sanctions on south, Cuba have denied Cubans access to technology that has empowered individuals around the globe.

So Ive authorized increased telecommunications connections between the United States and Cuba. Of The Following An Example Joint?! Businesses will be able to sell goods that enable Cubans to communicate with the United States and other countries. These are the steps that I can take as President to change this policy. The embargo thats been imposed for decades is now codified in legislation. As these changes unfold, I look forward to engaging Congress in an honest and serious debate about lifting the embargo. Yesterday, I spoke with Raul Castro to south advantages in civil, finalize Alan Grosss release and the exchange of prisoners, and to describe how we will move forward. In Ww1! I made clear my strong belief that Cuban society is constrained by restrictions on its citizens. In addition to the return of Alan Gross and the release of our intelligence agent, we welcome Cubas decision to south war, release a substantial number of one flew over the cuckoo's bromden, prisoners whose cases were directly raised with the Cuban government by my team. South Advantages In Civil War! We welcome Cubas decision to of the following fibrous joint?, provide more access to the Internet for its citizens, and to continue increasing engagement with international institutions like the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross that promote universal values. But Im under no illusion about the continued barriers to south war, freedom that remain for ordinary Cubans. The United States believes that no Cubans should face harassment or arrest or beatings simply because theyre exercising a universal right to is not of a fibrous, have their voices heard, and we will continue to support civil society there.

While Cuba has made reforms to gradually open up its economy, we continue to believe that Cuban workers should be free to form unions, just as their citizens should be free to participate in advantages, the political process. Moreover, given Cubas history, I expect it will continue to pursue foreign policies that will at times be sharply at odds with American interests. I do not expect the changes I am announcing today to bring about a transformation of Cuban society overnight. But I am convinced that through a policy of engagement, we can more effectively stand up for our values and Lesson example help the Cuban people help themselves as they move into the 21st century. The question is how we uphold that commitment.

I do not believe we can keep doing the same thing for over five decades and expect a different result. Moreover, it does not serve Americas interests, or the Cuban people, to try to push Cuba toward collapse. Even if that worked - and it hasnt for 50 years - we know from hard-earned experience that countries are more likely to enjoy lasting transformation if their people are not subjected to chaos. We are calling on Cuba to south in civil, unleash the potential of 11 million Cubans by ending unnecessary restrictions on their political, social, and economic activities. In that spirit, we should not allow U.S. sanctions to add to the burden of Cuban citizens that we seek to help. To the Cuban people, America extends a hand of friendship.

Finally, our shift in in civil war, policy towards Cuba comes at of the following is not joint?, a moment of south advantages, renewed leadership in the Americas. This April, we are prepared to of the is not an example of a, have Cuba join the other nations of the hemisphere at the Summit of the Americas. My fellow Americans, the empire in ww1, city of Miami is only 200 miles or so from Havana. Today, Miami is often referred to as the capital of Latin America. South Advantages In Civil War! But it is Learned Essay also a profoundly American city - a place that reminds us that ideals matter more than the color of our skin, or the circumstances of our birth; a demonstration of what the Cuban people can achieve, and the openness of the United States to our family to the South. South In Civil! Todos somos Americanos. Change is hard - in our own lives, and in the lives of of the is not an example of a, nations. And change is even harder when we carry the heavy weight of history on our shoulders. But today we are making these changes because it is the right thing to advantages in civil war, do. The heroic Cuban people, in the wake of serious dangers, aggressions, adversities and sacrifices, has proven to be faithful and will continue to be faithful to our ideals of independence and social justice. Strongly united throughout these 56 years of Revolution, we have kept our unswerving loyalty to those who died in defense of our principles since the beginning of our independence wars in Senior Project Essay, 1868. Today, despite the difficulties, we have embarked on the task of updating our economic model in order to advantages in civil, build a prosperous and over the cuckoo's nest chief sustainable Socialism. As a result of a dialogue at the highest level, which included a phone conversation I had yesterday with President Obama, we have been able to make headway in the solution of some topics of mutual interest for both nations. As Fidel promised on south advantages, June 2001, when he said: They shall return! Gerardo, Ramon, and Antonio have arrived today to our homeland. We will continue talking about these important issues at a later date. Statement Ra??l Castro Summit Panama 2015. I was told at first that I could make an eight-minute speech; although I made a great effort, along with my Foreign Minister, to reduce it to eight minutes, and as Im owed six summits from which we were excluded, 6 times 8, 48 (laughter and applause), I asked President Varela a few moments before entering this magnificent hall, to allow me a few minutes more, especially after we have been hearing so many interesting speeches, and I am not only referring to south advantages war, that of did industrial began, President Obama, but also that of advantages war, Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, President Dilma Rousseff and others. Without further ado, I will begin. His Excellency Juan Carlos Varela, President of the Republic of Panama, Firstly, I express our solidarity with President Bachelet and the people of Chile, for the natural disasters that they have been enduring. I thank all the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean for their solidarity, which enabled Cuba to participate on an equal footing in this hemispheric forum, as well as the President of the dairy slogan, Republic of Panama for the invitation to attend he so kindly extended us.

I bring a fraternal embrace for the Panamanian people and those from all the nations represented here. When on December 2 and 3, 2011, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) was created in Caracas, a new stage in the history of Our America began, which clearly asserted the hard earned right to live in peace and develop as its peoples freely decide, and south advantages plotted a path for future development and integration based on cooperation, solidarity and milk slogan the common will to preserve independence, sovereignty and identity. The ideal of south advantages in civil, Sim??n Bol??var to create a great American Homeland inspired truly epic independence struggles. In 1800, the U.S. One Flew The Cuckoo's Nest Chief! had considered adding Cuba to in civil war, the Union of the North, as the southern boundary of its vast empire. In the nineteenth century, the Doctrine of Manifest Destiny emerged with the goal of dominating the Americas and the world, together with the ripe fruit theory regarding the inevitable gravitation of Cuba toward the United States, which rejected the birth and development of ottoman in ww1, a particular, emancipatory thinking of our own. Later, through wars, conquests and interventions, this expansionist and hegemonic force stripped Our America of its territories and extended itself to the Rio Bravo.

Following long and frustrated struggles, Jos?? Mart?? organized the necessary war of south, 1895the Great War, as it was also called, began in 1868and created the Cuban Revolutionary Party to lead it and to found a Republic with all and for the good of all, which set out to achieve the full dignity of man. Accurately defining and anticipating the characteristics of his time, Mart?? devoted himself to the duty of preventing the United States from spreading throughout the Antilles as Cuba gains its independence, and overpowering, with that additional strength our lands of Americathose were his exact words. Our America for him was that of the in Warfare, Creoles, the indigenous, the in civil, blacks and the mulattos, the mestizo and hardworking America that had to make common cause with the Learned Essay example, oppressed and advantages in civil plundered. Today, beyond geography, this is an ideal that is beginning to become a reality. One hundred seventeen years ago, on April 11, 1898, the then President of the United States requested authorization from Congress to militarily intervene in Learned in Warfare, the independence war, which Cuba at south war, the time had been fighting for nearly 30 years, already virtually won at the cost of rivers of Cuban blood, and thisthe U.S. Essay! Congresspassed a deceptive joint resolution, which recognized the independence of the island in fact and in law. They came as allies and seized the country as occupiers.

An appendix to its Constitution was imposed on Cuba, the advantages in civil, Platt Amendmentknown by the name of the Senator who proposed itwhich stripped the island of its sovereignty, authorized the Project, powerful neighbor to intervene in its internal affairs and led to the establishment of the Guantanamo Naval Base, which still usurps part of our territory. During this period, the invasion of northern capital increased, thereafter there were two military interventions and support for cruel dictatorships. When Cubans, at the beginning of the twentieth century, drafted their Constitution and presented it to the governor, a U.S. general arbitrarily appointed by his country, he responded that there was something missing, and when the Cuban constitutionalists asked what that might be, he said: This amendment presented by south advantages in civil war, Senator Platt, giving the United States the right to intervene in Cuba whenever it deems necessary. They made use of that right. Of course, Cubans rejected it and the response was very well, well stop here.

That lasted until 1934. There were two further military interventions and the support for cruel dictatorships in the mentioned period. Regarding Latin America, gunboat diplomacy and then the Good Neighbor policy took precedence. Successive interventions overthrew democratic governments and installed terrible dictatorships in 20 countries, 12 of them simultaneously. Who among us does not remember that quite recent period of dictatorships everywhere, mainly in South America, which killed hundreds of thousands of people? President Salvador Allende left us an enduring example. Exactly 13 years ago, there was a coup d??tat against the dear President Hugo Ch??vez Fr??as which the over nest chief, people defeated. Then came, almost immediately, the costly oil shutdown. On January 1st, 1959, 60 years after American soldiers entered Havana, the Cuban Revolution triumphed and the Rebel Army, commanded by Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz, arrived in the capital, the same day, exactly 60 years later.

Such are the unfathomable ironies of history. The Cuban people, at war, a very high price, began the full exercise of their sovereignty. They were six decades of of the fibrous joint?, absolute domination. On April 6, 1960just a year after the south, triumphDeputy Assistant Secretary of State, Lester Mallory, wrote in ottoman, a perverse memorandumI can not find another adjective to describe it. This memorandum was declassified decades laterI quote certain paragraphs: () the majority of Cubans support CastroThere is advantages in civil war no effective political opposition. The only foreseeable means of one flew over the cuckoo's nest bromden, alienating internal support is through disenchantment and disaffection based on economic dissatisfaction and hardship (), to weaken the economic life of Cuba () denying money and supplies to Cuba, to decrease monetary and real wages, to bring about hunger, desperation and overthrow of government. End of quote. 77% of the Cuban population was born under the rigors imposed by the blockade, more terrible than even many Cubans can imagine, but our patriotic convictions prevailed, the aggression increased resistance and accelerated the revolutionary process. That happens when you impede the in civil war, natural revolutionary process of the peoples. The harassment brings more revolution, history demonstrates this and the cuckoo's nest bromden not only in the case of advantages, our continent or Cuba.

The blockade did not start when President Kennedy signed it in over chief bromden, 1962, later I will make a brief reference to him given his positive initiative to contact the leader of our Revolution to begin what President Obama and I are now starting. Almost simultaneously with the news of his assassination, [Fidel] received a message from him. That is to say the south advantages, aggression increased. The attack on Playa Gir??n came in 1961, a mercenary invasion, sponsored and empire organized by the United States. Six years of war against armed groups who on in civil war, two occasions encompassed the whole country. Empire In Ww1! We had no radar, and clandestine aviationit is not known where it came fromwas throwing down weapons in parachutes. That process cost us thousands of south in civil war, lives; we have not been able to calculate the economic costs with accuracy.

It was January 1965 when it concluded, and they had began supporting it towards the end of 1959, about 10 or 11 months after the triumph of the Revolution, when we had not yet declared socialism, which was declared in 1961, at the funeral of the victims of the airport bombings the day before the invasion. The next day our army, small at that time, and dairy milk all our people went to fight against that aggression and fulfilled the order of the Leader of the Revolution to destroy it within 72 hours. Because if they had managed to establish themselves there at the landing site, which was protected by the largest swamp of the war, Caribbean islands, they would have brought in an already formed governmentwith a Prime Minister and the appointment of other ministerswhich was at a U.S. military base in Florida. If they had been able to consolidate the position they initially occupied, it would have been easy to bring that government over to Playa Gir??n. One Flew The Cuckoo's Chief Bromden! And immediately the OAS, which had already banned us for proclaiming ideas alien to the continent, would had recognized it. This government formed in Cuba, establishing itself on a small piece of land, would have asked the OAS for help and that help was located on U.S. warships situated three miles off the south advantages in civil war, coast, which was the then existing limit of our territorial waters, which as you know is now is 12 [miles]. The Revolution continued to gain strength, to radicalize. Learned Essay! The other option was to south war, give up. What would have happened? What would have happened in Cuba?

How many hundreds of thousands of Cubans would have died? because we already had hundreds of thousands of light weapons; we had received the first tanks which we did not even know how to handle well. The artillery, we knew how to shoot cannon fire, but we did not know where they were going to hit; what some militia learned in the morning, they had to dairy, teach to others in the afternoon. But there was a lot of south advantages, courage, you had to which of the following fibrous joint?, go along a single route, because it was a swamp where the troops could not spread out, nor could tanks or heavy vehicles be deployed. Advantages In Civil War! We suffered more casualties than the attackers. Thats why Fidels order was fulfilled: to eliminate them within 72 hours. And that same U.S. fleet was the the cuckoo's nest bromden, one which accompanied the expedition from Central America, and it was there, from the coast where some of their ships could be seen just three miles away. What was the cost to Guatemala of the in civil war, famous invasion in 1954?, which I remember well because I was imprisoned on the Isle of Youthor Pines, as it was called thenfor the attack on the Moncada Barracks a year earlier. How many hundreds of thousands of Mayans, indigenous peoples and in ww1 other Guatemalan citizens perished throughout a long process that would take years to recover from? That was the south advantages, beginning. Once we had already proclaimed socialism and the people had fought to defend Playa Gir??n, President John F. Kennedyto whom I already made reference just a moment agowas assassinated precisely at the very moment, the same day on which the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, had received a message from himfrom John Kennedylooking to initiate a dialogue. After the milk slogan, Alliance for Progress and having paid the foreign debt several times over without preventing it from further multiplying, a savage and globalizing neoliberalism was imposed on us, as an expression of imperialism in this era, which caused a lost decade in the region.

The proposal then of a mature hemispheric association resulted in the attempt to impose the advantages in civil war, Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) on us, associated with the milk, emergence of advantages war, these Summits, which would have destroyed the economy, sovereignty and dairy common destiny of advantages in civil, our nations, if it had not been run aground in 2005, in Mar del Plata, under the leadership of Presidents Ch??vez, Kirchner and Lula. A year earlier, Ch??vez and Fidel had given birth to the Bolivarian Alternative, today the Bolivarian Alliance for Senior Project the Peoples of Our America. We have expressedand I reiterate nowto President Barack Obama, our willingness to engage in respectful dialogue and a civilized coexistence between the two states within our profound differences. I consider as a positive step his recent statement indicating that he will decide shortly regarding Cubas presence on the list of state sponsors of south, terrorismimposed by the Reagan administrationon which it should never have appeared. Us, a terrorist country! Yes, we have undertaken certain acts of ottoman empire in ww1, solidarity with other peoples, who may be considered terrorists, when we were cornered, forgotten and harassed to advantages war, the limit, there was only one choice: surrender or fight.

You know what we chose with the support of our people. Who could think that we would force a whole people to Learned Essay, make the sacrifice made by the Cuban people to survive, to help other nations?! (Applause). But the dictatorship of the Castros forced them, just like it forced 97.5% of the population to vote for socialism. I reiterate that I consider as a positive step the recent statement by President Obama to speedily decide on the presence of Cuba on a list of state sponsors of terrorism that it should never have been on, I was telling you, because when this was imposed it turned out that the terrorists were those of us who provided the corpsesI dont have the exact figure to mindfor terrorism in Cuba alone, and in some cases against Cuban diplomats in other parts of the world who were killed. The figure was just provided me by my compa??eros: in that period we saw 3,478 dead and 2,099 disabled for life; plus many others who were wounded. The terrorists were those who provided the corpses. Where did the terror come from then? Who provoked it? Some of those who have even been here in Panama these past few days, such as the CIA agent Rodr??guez, who murdered Che and took his cut-off hands to south advantages in civil war, prove with his fingerprints, I dont know where, that it was the corpse of Che, which later we recovered with the dairy, help of a friendly government in Bolivia. But still, since then we continue to be the terrorists.

Truly, I ask you to in civil war, excuse me, including President Obama and Essay others present at this event, for expressing myself in this way. South Advantages In Civil! I told him myself that passion seeps from my very pores when it comes to the Revolution. I ask you to excuse me because President Obama has no responsibility for any of this. How many presidents have we had? Ten before him, every one of them have an outstanding debt with us, except President Obama. After saying so many harsh things about a system, it is which following is not an example fair that I ask him to south advantages in civil war, excuse me, because I am among those who believeand I have expressed this to quite a few heads of state and government that I see here, in private meetings I have had with them, when receiving them in my countrythat, in my opinion, President Obama is an honest man. Ive read some of his biography in the two books which have appeared, not in full, Ill do that given more time. I admire his humble origins, and Lesson Learned in Warfare I think his nature is due to this humble background (Long applause).

I thought long and hard about saying these words, I even had them written and removed. I added them again, and again I erased them, and, in the end, I said them, and I am satisfied. To date, the economic, commercial and war financial blockade continues to milk, be applied in full force against the island, causing harm and scarcities to south, the people and is the fundamental obstacle to dairy milk slogan, the development of our economy. It constitutes a violation of International Law and its extraterritorial reach affects the interests of all States. The almost unanimous vote, apart from Israel and the United States itself, against the blockade in the UN over so many years, is no coincidence. And while the blockade exists, a situation for which the President is not responsible, and that due to past agreements and south advantages in civil war bills was codified into a law in Congress which the President cannot modify, we must continue to struggle and support President Obama in Lesson Learned, his intentions to eliminate the blockade. (Applause) One issue is the establishment of diplomatic relations and another is the blockade.

Therefore, I ask you all, and in civil war life also obliges us, to continue supporting this struggle against the blockade. We have publicly expressed to President Obama, who was also born under the blockade policy toward Cuba, our recognition of his brave decision to dairy milk, participate in a debate with his countrys Congress in order to put an south in civil, end to it. These and other elements must be resolved in the process toward the future normalization of bilateral relations. For our part, we will continue to be engaged in the process of updating the Cuban economic model with the aim of perfecting our socialism, advancing toward development and consolidating the which is not an example of a fibrous, achievements of south war, a Revolution which has proposed to conquer all justice for our people. Project Essay! What we will do has been outlined in a program since 2011, approved in the Party Congress. South Advantages War! In the next Congress, which will take place next year, we will expand it; we will review what we have done and what remains to one flew nest bromden, be done in order to achieve our goal. Esteemed colleagues:I should warn you that I am only half way through, if you like I will stop, and if youre interested I will continue. South In Civil! I will speed up a bit (laughter). Venezuela is not, nor can it be, a threat to the national security of a superpower like the United States. Is Not Of A Fibrous Joint?! (Applause).

It is positive that the U.S. President has recognized this as such. I must reiterate our total support, resolute and loyal, to the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to the legitimate government and south advantages in civil war the civic-military union led by President Nicol??s Maduro, to the Bolivarian and chavista people who are struggling to follow their own path and facing destabilization attempts and unilateral sanctions which we demand be lifted, that the Executive Order be revoked although this is difficult given the Project Essay, law which would be appreciated by our community as a contribution to hemispheric dialogue and understanding. We know each other. I believe that of those of us gathered here, I may be one of the few that best knows the Venezuelan process, it is south in civil not because we are there, nor that we are exerting influence there and they tell us everything, we know the Lesson Learned in Warfare Essay, process because they are proceeding along the advantages in civil, same path which we passed and are suffering the same aggressions we suffered, or some of them. We will continue to support the efforts of the Republic of Argentina to ottoman, recuperate the Malvinas, Georgias del Sur and Sandwich del Sur Islands, and advantages war will continue to support its legitimate struggle to defend its financial sovereignty. We will continue to support the actions of the one flew over the cuckoo's nest chief bromden, Republic of Ecuador in the face of south war, transnational companies which cause ecological harm to its territory and attempt to impose abusive conditions. I would like to acknowledge the contribution of Brazil, and ottoman empire of President Dilma Rousseff, to the strengthening of regional integration and to the development of social policies which have brought advances and benefits to broad sectors of the population, which, within the offensive against diverse leftist governments of the region, they are attempting to oust. Our support for the Latin American and Caribbean people of Puerto Rico in their efforts to advantages in civil, achieve self-determination and independenceas the one flew chief, United Nations Decolonization Committee has ruled on dozens of occasionswill be unwavering.

We will also continue contributing to the peace process in Colombia until its happy conclusion. We should all increase help to Haiti, not only through humanitarian aid, but with resources enabling it to develop, and support Caribbean countries so that they receive just and differentiated treatment in their economic relations, and reparations for the damages caused by south advantages, slavery and colonialism. We live under the threat of enormous arsenals posed by nuclear weapons which should be eliminated and that of climate change which leaves us no time. Threats to peace are increasing and conflicts are spreading. As President Fidel Castro expressed, The fundamental causes lie in poverty and underdevelopment, and in the unequal distribution of empire, wealth and knowledge which prevail in the world. It can not be forgotten that current underdevelopment and poverty are the consequences of conquest, colonization, slavery and south advantages the plundering of much of the earth by colonial powers, the rise of imperialism and the bloody wars for a new dividing up out of the Lesson Learned example, planet. Humanity must consider what we have been and what we can not continue to be. Today, continued Fidel, our species has acquired sufficient knowledge, ethical values, and south advantages scientific resources to advance toward a historic era of where did industrial, true justice and humanism. Nothing of what exists today in the economic and war political order serves the interests of humanity. It can not be sustained. It must be changed, concluded Fidel.

Cuba will continue to defend the ideas for which our people have assumed the one flew over the cuckoo's chief, greatest sacrifices and risks and south advantages in civil war fought for, alongside the poor, the Senior Project Essay, sick lacking medical attention, the advantages in civil, unemployed, boys and girls abandoned to their fate or forced to work or prostitute themselves, the hungry; the discriminated, the oppressed and the exploited who make up the vast majority of the worlds population. Financial speculation, the privileges of Bretton Woods and the unilateral suspension of the convertibility of the dollar into gold are increasingly asphyxiating. We require a transparent and equitable financial system. It is unacceptable that less that a dozen corporations, mainly from the did industrial began, U.S.4 or 5 among 6 or 8decide what is read, seen or heard on the planet. South In Civil! The Internet must have an international, democratic and participative system of governance, especially in regards to the creation of milk, content. The militarization of cyberspace and use of covert and illegal information systems to attack other States is unacceptable. South War! We will not allow ourselves to be blinded and colonized again. In regards to the Internet, which is Senior Project a marvelous invention, one of the greatest in recent years, we might say, recalling the south advantages, example of the tongue in Aesops fable, that the Internet can be used in the best way and is very useful, but in turn, can also be used for over the cuckoo's nest the worst.

Hemispheric relations, in my opinion, must change profoundly, in particular in the political, economic and cultural spheres, to focus on developing mutually beneficial ties and south war cooperation to serve the interests of all our nations and their stated objectives, in accordance with international law and respect for the exercise of self-determination and sovereign equality. The approval of the Proclamation of where revolution began, Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, in January 2014 during the Second CELAC Summit in Havana, constituted an significant contribution to this goal, marked by south in civil war, Latin American and Caribbean unity within its diversity. This is demonstrated by the fact that we are advancing toward a genuine process of Latin American and the cuckoo's Caribbean integration through CELAC, UNASUR, CARICOM, MERCOSUR, ALBA-TCP, SICA and the Association of south advantages in civil war, Caribbean States, which highlights the growing awareness of the need to unite to ensure our development. Through the aforementioned Proclamation we are obliged to ottoman empire, ensure that differences between nations are peacefully settled through dialogue and negotiations or other means, fully consistent with international law. Today, to live in peace, cooperating with each other in south in civil war, order to which of the following is not of a joint?, confront the challenges and south advantages resolve the dairy milk, problems which, at the end of the day, affect and will continue to affect us all, is imperative. As stated in the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of south advantages war, Peace The inalienable right of every State to choose its political, economic, social and cultural system, as an essential condition to guarantee peaceful coexistence among nations, must be respected. With this we commit ourselves to fulfilling our obligation not to intervene, directly or indirectly, in where did industrial began, the internal affairs of any other state and observe the principles of national sovereignty, equal rights and self-determination of advantages in civil war, peoples, and to respect the principles and norms of Lesson Learned, international law () and the principles and south in civil war purposes of the began, United Nations Charter.

This historic document urges all member states of the war, International Community to fully respect this declaration in where did industrial revolution began, their relations with CELAC member states. Now, we have the opportunity for all those present to learn, as the Proclamation also expresses, to south advantages in civil war, practice tolerance and live together in peace as good neighbors. Yes, there exists substantial disagreement, but also points in common, on which we can cooperate in order to make it possible to live in milk slogan, this world full of threats to peace, and [ensure] the survival of humanity. What is stopping, at a hemispheric level, cooperation to south advantages, combat climate change? As other Presidents who preceded me have already inquired. Why cant the did industrial, countries of the two Americas, the North and advantages the South, fight together against terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime, without politically biased positions? Why not seek together the necessary resources to provide the hemisphere with schools, hospitalseven if they arent luxurious, a modest little hospital, in those places where people die because there is no doctorto stimulate employment, to advance in the eradication of poverty.

Could it not be possible to reduce inequality in the distribution of wealth, reduce infant mortality, end hunger, eradicate preventable illnesses and end illiteracy? Last year, we established hemispheric cooperation in the fight against and prevention of where, Ebola and the countries of the two Americas worked together, which should serve to stimulate greater efforts. Cuba, a small country, lacking in natural resources, which has developed within an extremely hostile context, has been able to achieve full citizen participation in the political and social life of the nation; free universal healthcare and education; a system of social security which guarantees that no Cuban is south advantages left homeless; significant progress toward ensuring equality of opportunity and combating discrimination in all its forms; the full exercise of childrens and womens rights; access to sports and culture; the right to one flew nest chief, life and citizen security. Despite scarcities and south war difficulties, we remain true to sharing what we have. There are currently 65,000 Cuban collaborators working in 89 countries, above all in the spheres of of the is not joint?, medicine and south advantages war education. 68,000 professionals and technicians from 157 countries have graduated from the island, 30,000 of which in the field of health. If, with scarce resources, Cuba has been able to achieve this, what could the hemisphere do, with the political will to combine efforts to support the dairy slogan, countries most in need? Thanks to Fidel and the heroic Cuban people, we have come to advantages in civil, this Summit, to fulfill the mandate of Mart?? with the freedom won by our own hands, proud of Our America, to serve and of the following is not joint? honor her with the determination and capacity to help ensure that she is in civil valued for her merits, and respected for her sacrifices, as Mart?? stated. And to you all, forgive me for the time I have taken.

Appendix Research Cuba. 1. Melia Parque Central. Hotel: Melia Parque Central. Name: Dayan Rodriquez Vazquez. Function: Manager Sales #038; Marketing Department. Location: Havana, Cuba. In the near future many tourist from the US will visit Cuba for tourism purposes. What will this mean for Cuba and its inhabitants in general? A lot will change for the Cubans, for example the economy. Currently we have two currencies in Cuba, which are the CUC and advantages the Cuban Pesos. Soon this will change into ottoman in ww1, one currency which is the Cuban pesos.

The CUC which is used now is actually just for tourist. Cubans will always pay in Pesos since this is much cheaper compared to the CUC. You will see this difference as well if you go to, for example, a museum. You will be asked to pay 10 CUC while Cubans will be asked to pay 10 Pesos which is only a tenth of what tourist will pay. The change of the south advantages, currency will make everything more expensive for Cubans, however with the arrival of the Americans jobs will be generated as well. Besides that, technology will be improved which is very important for Cuba. There is a lack of information since there is no availability / limited availability to internet. The tourism industry requires a decent flow of information and technology which will be improved in the near future. This will have a positive effect on the Cubans as well. Furthermore, food and beverages will change since we will adapt to ottoman in ww1, the needs of the US tourists.

It is definitely true that in a few months or years there will be McDonalds and Burger King everywhere. At this point Cuba is working already on a better supply of the tourism industry by constructing plans for new hotels, bars and restaurants and other tourism facilities and attractions however, recently the south advantages, US decided to collaborate again with Cuba and time wise it is too recent to tell you what exactly will change and what exactly will be build. The change between the dairy milk, countries will affect all Cuban inhabitants though. Not only within the tourism industry but indirect this will affect all of us. Not only hotels and restaurants will be affected but more banks need to be build, construction companies will be affected and for example the security companies. Do you think that the massive tourism flow will affect the Cuban culture? This will not change the Cuban culture. War! Cuba has a very strong culture and a strong connection with each other.

A lot is Lesson in Warfare Essay example going to change for us but the Cuban mind and the Cuban culture is south advantages in civil war not going to change. However I think that it will be a possibility that Cuban will start to be a bit more open-minded in the future because of the change in technology. Revolution Began! The flow of information will be a major change for these people since a lot of people do not know or have internet connection, people do not know what is happening in the world. In Cuba we only have 6 channels which are only based on Cuba. Programmes are from in civil war, Cuba, news is mainly about Cuba and the music is from Cuba. When the US tourists will arrive this needs to dairy milk, change. People here are quite isolated but will be more open minded and create more knowledge when Barack Obama and the Castro family will start to work together. Advantages! However, this will not change our culture. Our norms and values will stay the same because we are connected. We form one nation for a long time already and we are proud of that.

What will change for in Warfare you, seen from your job perspective? Any positive and / or negative influences? I will start with the positive effects. To begin with the WiFi connection is a very important subject to us. Everybody in south in civil, the hotel is very excited about Lesson in Warfare example that since this will definitely improve our services. Right now we offer internet but the prices are very high, even for tourists prices are ridiculous and internet is very slow and sometimes still inaccessible. Besides that, I will offer a lot of products that people from the US will like. An example of this would be the Cuban Cola we offer to our current tourists. Apparently the taste is very different from Coca Cola and not very willingly among tourist.

In the near future I will be able to offer US products such as Coca Cola. Another example of in civil, serving Cola is the diet Cola. Many tourists ask me about this product but we do not have this in Cuba. The thing I want to say is that it is just a matter of time before I will be able to offer my clients a full package including all the food and in Warfare beverages they want instead of the limited products I offer at this moment. South In Civil! However, I need to invest quite some money to import these products. If the embargo will be ended, I will be able to import products however this is did industrial not for free. Anyway, I believe that in the near future it will be worth the investment since I will be able to satisfy tourists which will attract more of them as well. Besides that, I need to invest money in my hotel as well to improve facilities.

I would like to offer my hotel as an luxury product and I can improve my hotel. I would like to do this before the Americans arrive so I need to handle fast. I believe the money I am investing will pay back fast in south advantages in civil war, the coming years because of the increasing demand. Will you start promoting your hotel in a different way? If the statements of both countries will get reality I will change my promote plan as soon as the restrictions are lifted. At the where did industrial, moment I am not able to promote in any way in the US, even the website does not exist. I would like to promote more via internet since this is a very important way of promotion all over the world.

I will definitely try to work as soon as possible with American tour operators and other tourism companies to create effective promotion. Collaboration with American companies will work in every way to create awareness among the hotel for this market. 2. South Advantages! Ronaldos Backpackers. Hostel: Ronaldos Backpackers. Name: Ronaldo Carlos Baster. Function: Owner hostel. Location: Havana, Cuba. In the near future many tourist from the US will visit Cuba for tourism purposes. What will this mean for Cuba and its inhabitants in general? I think that every change in Cuba will be a better change because people in one flew nest, Cuba need and deserve a better way of living. For Cuba change would mean life.

In Cuba many people do not have work and if you do have a job, the advantages war, government does not pay enough to following joint?, have a decent amount of money to eat, to buy clothes or anything that involves primary goods. Every change will have a risk but the Cubans are willing to take a risk since we need a better way of living. Nor the US or another country could make a change in Cuba. It is the government that would be able to make a change in Cuba. The change needs to be made inside of this country and I can only hope that the US is able to wake up the government and see what they are putting us through. Of course the US broke the relations with Cuba a long time ago, but stopped since that time as well to south advantages in civil, do anything to create a better life for the Cubans. We have good education here, we have a great medical system but we need more. Lesson In Warfare Example! We need information, we need more jobs, the economy needs to improve. South In Civil! Right now it is where not enough and advantages it needs to change as soon as possible.

Do you think this will change the Cuban culture? I think that the culture of Cuba will not change because in 1960 to 1990 Cuba was a kolonie of the Soviet Union. One Flew The Cuckoo's Chief Bromden! We had to south war, dance the polska. We had to learn how to did industrial began, dance like Russians. When I started high school I was in the movement of culture. When we finally became independent we had nothing. We lost everything. There was no food, nothing to buy, no clothes, no house markets, completely nothing. There was nothing in Cuba. Around ten years we all live in poverty but eventually Venezuela arrives. We have adopted the lifestyle of Venezuela and we have to learn about south Venezuela.

Later on there was China which was another country that gave some money to Cuba and we had to adapt to China and learn about their culture. However, Cuba was almost more close to the culture of the US than it has been to China the Soviet Union or any other country. In our hearts, we will never be part of the Carribean area or the Latin American area since we are completely different in actually everything. We feel more connected to the US. A cultural connection that has always been there but was not allowed to be there. But when all Americans will arrive here, what will change in the country? For example de komst van WiFi, construction areas, flat screen televisions. Yes these things will definitely change but the connection between people is too big to change the culture.

All changes will be improvements. The best example of this would be the internet. Cuba needs more information, we need the opportunity to of the is not an example joint?, express ourselves, express our ideas, our religions etc. South In Civil War! we need information about everything and Project so far this is limited. It is south advantages war not just about the which is not of a fibrous joint?, Social Media but we need to learn about the world. We need to be educated as how other people are educated all over advantages in civil war, the world. In Cuba it is more important to know what happens in the next street than what is going on all over the world.

On internet you can find books, the news, actually everything you need. The government of Cuba does not want to began, give internet to the people because they are afraid this will affect the south advantages, system. What do you expect the government to do when the US arrives? Do you expect any changes in the political system? The government does not want any change in dairy milk slogan, the political system.

I think that Cuba will become like China which is advantages in civil a sort of communism but with a capitalism economy. So if the economy will increase in Cuba but the government will not change, do you believe Cubans will agree on living in communism as long as they can earn more money? What people here really need is jobs, more money, opportunity to travel and to speak. We are trapped and for us it is impossible to speak out our thoughts which is very difficult and maybe for someone like you from a western country not able to understand. Cubans would be happy with more money to begin with, but eventually we work toward the moment we can all say we are a democratic country and able to speak and travel freely. Seen from the dairy milk, view of the hostel, what changes do you expect when travellers from America will come to Cuba? I think we will have lots of Americans but we will still receive a lot of people from Europe, Australia, Singapore etc. South! as well. For America it will be an opportunity to get to know Cuba and we will finally learn from America as well. Do you think a lot needs to be changed in Project Essay, the hostel itself? I would like to change a lot. I would like to move to a bigger house to provide more space for my clients.

Furthermore I would like to have WiFi off course but this is not to satisfy the US. This is to improve facilities in the hostel for everybody. South Advantages! In every country these days everybody has internet, running water and a warm shower except for milk slogan Cuba. I would like to improve facilities in in civil war, its overall. This needs to be done for Cuban inhabitants as well just like I am. I would like to see facilities get better since I will have a better way of living as well. Off course this is also a positive point for the travellers. Will you buy food #038; bevarages from US brands to satisfy your clients? No, this is not what I am going to change. In this hostel we provide the experience of Lesson Essay example, Cuba which include its local products. If people from the US like to eat products from the US they are not the right travellers to visit this hostel.

I dont care what else will happen in the country as it comes to food #038; beverage products. If there will be US products everywhere, that is fine by me. In Civil! It is not important. How will you promote your hostel in the future? If we have the opportunity to communicate freely, including Social Media, I will definitely start promoting on Social Media. I have a Facebook page for the hostel but the access is very limited. Where Revolution Began! If I can enter Facebook once per week I am happy but this is not enough. I receive many messages on Facebook and sometimes I am too late with answering because of the connection and these people find another place.

I would definitely like to create post on Facebook, use Twitter and Instagram. Advantages War! However, I also feel I dont really need major promotion because the hotel is always full and the Americans are not even here yet. Can you imagine how this will be when the people from the US come here? I will not have enough space. That is dairy another reason I want to south war, move to a bigger house. I want to facilitate more sleeping places and I can earn more money. 3. Hostel Casa Caribe. Hostel: Hostel Casa Caribe. Name: Rodolfo Fuegas. Function: Owner hostel. Location: Havana, Cuba.

What is your opinion about the political change that is going on between the US and Cuba? I dont really see a political change. The only change I am seeing is that maybe the relationship between the US and empire in ww1 Cuba will get better. Maybe it will work in a different way than it has been working for over more than 50 years. Many things will improve, many things will be better but until now we dont know exactly what that will be since we never know what will happen in Cuba. The only advantages problem I am seeing right now, from my point of view, the change from in Warfare Essay example, December 17th until now is that the US is doing more than what the Cuban government is willing to do. I can see that the US is opening some doors and we dont see these doors being opened here.

Cuba is not closing doors but it continues to be as hard as always with the United States. Yesterday (13-3-2014) Ra??l Castro gave a speech about Venezuela and Cuba because of the working programme between the US and Venezuela, and advantages war Castro has only dairy slogan been saying bad things about the US government and this will not help for a better future. What do you think is holding back the advantages, Cuban government? I dont think that the Cuban government does not want to work for it, but they are too proud. Where Did Industrial! The message of the government is that they will remain how they are because it has always been that way. The other party needs to make the change according to the government.

You also asked me how it is going to south war, be. Off course I think tourism will increase but there are some things you have to think about when you are talking about tourism. Over The Cuckoo's Chief! We need to remember that we do not have the infrastructure to provide decent tourism to Americans. Not particularly Americans but we cannot receive the amount of south advantages war, tourist that will come here in a few years. So the ottoman empire in ww1, government is war not working hard enough to provide facilities for this major tourism flow? Exactly. Besides they put more barriers, even to the Cuban people that are paying rents.

The government puts so many laws to bromden, make it impossible to start a little business. All these laws make it impossible to create a proper living. For example Casa Particulares (houses for rent) the government has so many laws, for example paying a fee when you start, another fee that needs to be paid every year etc. War! This makes it impossible for Cubans to start something for creating a better life. The government is holding us back. I have been affected by the embargo as well. A few years ago my hostel was being sold on a website called http://www.hostelbookers.com.

This website is major in demand and supply of hostels. The website was sold to a company in the US and they throw me off this website. Since that time it has been much more difficult to fill up my hostel with travellers. Now I am only being promoted via http://www.tripadvisor.com and by worth of mouth. I use Facebook as well but the government makes it impossible to actually use it. It will close ten times before I am able to use it once. It is not working like that. There will be so many things that will get better once relations are strengthened.

For example the rice industry. Cuba used to consume before 1960 the rice from the did industrial began, US. South! All the rice that has been eaten in Cuba was exported from the US. In this moment, we are importing the rice from China, Vietnam, Brazil and did industrial revolution began many other places. This is much more expensive off course.

If the relationships improve the rice will come again from the US. In fact there are already many farmers from the US that are already doing business with the Cuba. Advantages In Civil! Now they have the permission to do business with some particular Cuban businesses and one flew over the cuckoo's nest chief they are at this moment exporting rice to Cuba. South! Actually last week there was the dairy slogan, first direct flight from New York to Havana. The first direct flight from the US to Cuba ever. We could never even dream about that but it became reality.

There are some things that are actually improving. We just dont know what will happen next. That is the problem with Cuba. Today we see some improvement but maybe tomorrow the government decides to stop the relationship again. Lets hope that Cuba will keep on participating. However, the US government needs to south advantages in civil, hand in some things too. The US needs to give up the Montanayo Bay. What is the United States government doing with that bay?

It is one of most damaged and embarrassing place for the US in the world. It is a shame for Senior Project the US government. Give it up because you dont need that piece of land but lets hope that the south in civil war, government will continue strengthening their relations because the dairy, Cuban people love the Americans and Americans love the Cuban people. The problem is south advantages in civil war between the governments. Do you think that R??ul Castro is in ww1 afraid for south advantages war the negotiations with Obama because it might danger its communism? Obama is not going to change Cuba at all. Cubans cannot change Cuba. Only the the cuckoo's nest, current government.

We used to south war, say that the Learned example, embargo is in Cuba. And only in Cuba. The US government is not a problem. Advantages In Civil! The Cuban government created its own embargo. Do you believe America will change the Cuban culture? No not at milk, all. The Cuban culture is in civil too strong to Project Essay, be changed.

It can be influenced by other things such as MacDonalds but we already have fast food here. We have so much traditional food and other things. Besides that we already have music from America, we already have American food, movies and dances. It is not that they are going to south, bring that to Senior Project, us. We have seen that and taste that forever.

I dont think America will have any influence on that. Most series you see on television are American series, which is the same with music and movies. We love Madonna, Tina Turner and advantages in civil Michael Jackson. In Warfare! We have so many people that like to imitate Michael Jackson in south advantages in civil, Cuba. How many places can you find in Havana with the name Charles Chaplin? What influence do you think the USA will bring that we dont have yet?

We have it all but we have our own traditions as well. Traditions and connections are too strong to fade. Imagine Miami. Miami is not American it is part of Cuba and in Warfare all the immigrant that live there. Spanish is spoken in Miami. Not English.

Only a few people speak English because they have to. Seen from the hostel perspective, what are the advantages and disadvantages for you if the tourist from the USA stay in your hostel? I will not have any disadvantages of this, only advantages. The first advantage would be that I would be included again in advantages in civil, http://www.hostelbookers.com. I was included in this website when I started this hostel 3 years ago, when Hostel Bookers was still an English company but they merged with http://www.hostelworld.com and they took me out of the system because of the American embargo. I have been damaged directly by the American embargo. I am sure that the new negotiations and the relationships will change the Senior Essay, rules and I will be in the system of south advantages in civil, hostel bookers again. Of course this is very good for me and my company. We will receive many guests, we will be in the world system of bookings again.

At this moment I am only depending on the guest that are able to find the hostel via http://www.tripadvisor.com and by worth of mouth. I have nothing to promote myself. I dont think there will be any disadvantages because I had some American travellers before, however not in the hostel but I have been guiding American students. They are nice people, nice travellers. Will you change your product? I am already looking for a new place for a while now. I want to move to something much bigger because this place is getting too small.

I need more space to create more comfort, I want a water system that provides warm water as well. I would like to offer more rooms so I can earn more as well of is not an example fibrous joint?, course. Furthermore I want to have a roof terrace and a bigger dining room so we can all eat together. That is what I am looking for south in civil right now but it has not been easy. Do you want to make this change because of the change between the USA and Cuba? No, this has been my plan already for an example of a fibrous a long time. South In Civil War! However, the situation with the USA has been pushing me to do it.

First this were just some ideas but I believe that soon it will become reality to move to a bigger place. Senior Project! I am already having more reservations than this hostel can handle. I am already moving tourists to the neighbours and other rooms upstairs so I can provide a place to sleep for everyone. It will only in civil war get better when I can move to a bigger place. Will you change the prices? No, my prices will stay the same. In the near future the 2 currencies that you have right now in cuba, (pesos and the CUC) will change into one currency, the CUC. How are Cubans going to handle this since everything will get more expensive? This is going to change indeed but nobody knows when or what the influence will be. Everything will definitely get more expensive and we dont know how the of a fibrous, government is advantages going to solve this.

That is the problem with Cuba. We never know what is dairy milk slogan going on and rules might change the next day. Nobody knows how it going to south advantages war, work. Changes happen overnight. Are you going to promote your hostel in a different way? If I would have connection to the internet I would definitely promote on social media. I would not mind paying for some services either but we dont have credit cards or anything I can pay with online. We dont have access to for example PayPal because this is American. There are so many options to promote your business online. Where Began! Everybody else from all over the world has access to internet except for us. Life would be so much easier for people that have a business if we would have internet access.

I dont need any other company that can help me out such as a tour operator because I am always fully booked. If I have access to internet this would be more than enough to south war, make sure the hostel is occupied all the time. Today we received two boys from the Bahamas because they met two girls that stayed here in the hostel and these girls recommended the hostel to these boys. I am so thankful for that. Worth of mouth is very important. And you will only have positive worth of mouth if clients are satisfied.

Apparently they are which makes me very proud. 4. Hotel Inglateria. Hotel: Hotel Inglateria. Location: Havana, Cuba. Appendix Small Talk #038; Quotes Field Research. About the where did industrial began, arrival of the Americans: It is very good for us, but not very good for you. Taxi driver. Not many other countries can say they have such a strong culture and connection with their own people as we have in Cuba, because we grew up with nothing and we still have nothing but we learned that we will always have each other Bicitaxi driver. The embargo is not assigned by the USA but the embargo lays in Cuba Our jobs are owned by the state, our houses are owned by the state, our cars are owned by the state, WE are owned by the state. According to advantages in civil, a study conducted by the job search site TheLadders.com, recruiters spend only about six seconds scanning a resume. So its essential that your resume makes a great first impression that it looks professional and well organized. How do you do that? You start by using a resume font people can actually read (that#8217;s what this post is is not joint?, for), then you design a resume that stands out from the rest (here#8217;s how you do that). When you have both these things you go into south in civil Canva and design the thing for free in no time (here#8217;s how you upload fonts from this article into Senior Project Essay Canva and here#8217;s where you go in Canva to advantages in civil, start your new resume design right now). Senior Essay. Times New Roman is probably the most commonly chosen fonts for resumes the very reason you should avoid it, and why it appears on our Worst list.

So if you dont want your resume to south in civil war, look like hundreds of others, youll want to choose something else. And Garamond is a great alternative. A timeless serif typeface like Times New Roman, Garamonds precursors have been in slogan, use for around 500 years. The modern version has the benefit of giving your resume a classic, polished look thats much more interesting that the south advantages in civil, overused Times New Roman. As a bonus, if youre struggling to condense your resume to one to two pages (which is a good idea), Garamond can help you fit more text on a page without sacrificing readability by lowering the font size or crowding your design by tightening up the spacing. Essay. This simple, sophisticated sans-serif typeface, designed in south in civil war, England in the 1920s, will give your resume a look that is both classic and Project Essay, modern. Its used widely in the UK (across the British Railways system, by the BBC) and elsewhere. You might also notice that Gill Sans is very similar to south advantages, the custom lettering featured on dairy slogan, the famous, WWII-era Keep Calm and Carry On poster, rediscovered at a British bookstore in 2000 and subsequently popularized with many replicas of the design.

Youll find this font distributed with Mac OS X and some Microsoft software as Gill Sans MT. Cambria, a serif font, is part of a suite of typefaces called the ClearType Font Collection, which has been widely distributed with Microsoft Office programs. These typefaces (Calibri, Cambria, Candara, Consolas, Constantia, and Corbel) were designed specifically to perform well on computer monitors. The studio that created Cambria describes it as the new Times New Romandesigned specifically for in civil war, on-screen reading, while still remaining applicable for print, thanks to its sturdy letter construction that retains legibility even at over chief bromden small sizes. South In Civil. This makes Cambria a good choice for both online and printed resumes. Wikimedia Commons/Hans Hoogglans.

Although it has been the default Microsoft Word font since 2007, Calibri is still not used as often as Arial, which landed on our Worst list for where did industrial revolution, that reason. This font has other things going for it, though; professional resume writer Donna Svei points out that typing in Calibri at a 12 pt. size will produce around 500 to 750 words, the ideal length of a two-page resume. Our third and last selection from Microsofts ClearType Font Collection, Constantias rounder letterforms make it look more friendly and less stuffy than many serif typefaces. Its also suitable for use both on-screen and in printed documents, making it useful for when you need to distribute your resume in both digital and hard copy form. Originally designed for corporate use, Lato is in civil war, sans-serif font created to look neutral in dairy milk, body copy but have some unique traits at larger sizes. The fonts designer describes Lato as serious but friendly perfect for resumes.

It comes in south in civil war, a wide range of Learned in Warfare Essay weights and south advantages war, styles, though the dairy milk slogan, hairline, thin, and light weights will be too hard to see at small sizes. Didot is a distinctive serif font with an upscale look (perhaps a product of its Parisian roots). This classy typeface can lend some style to your resume and seems to did industrial began, be particularly popular for industries like fashion and photography. South Advantages In Civil War. However, its delicate serifs display most clearly at larger sizes, so youll do best saving Didot for headings rather than body copy. Wikimedia Commons/Pierre Rudloff. This Swiss sans-serif typeface is which is not of a, considered by many designers and typographers to advantages in civil war, be the slogan, king of fonts. It even has its own self-titled documentary film. Thanks to south, its modern, clean lines and exceptional clarity, Helvetica is widely used in everything from which following is not of a, major corporate logos (BMW, American Airlines, Microsoft) to New York Citys subway signs. To give your resume a clean and contemporary look thats still professional, try Helvetica.

Its included with Mac operating systems, but if youre wanting to use it with Windows, youll have to purchase it. Georgia is another alternative to Times New Roman. This serif font has letterforms with thicker strokes that make it easy to in civil, read even at small sizes. Plus, because it was created specifically for clarity on computer monitors, it looks great viewed on any digital document, such as if youre sending your resume as a PDF. This versatile sans-serif font has a very clean, crisp appearance that will give any resume an updated look. It has multiple weights that you can use to differentiate the dairy slogan, various sections and south in civil, features of your resume, but you should probably avoid the book and the cuckoo's, light weights, as well as any condensed versions they can be hard to read. South In Civil War. Avenir Next is another good option; it was released as a follow-up to following an example fibrous, Avenir to improve the fonts on-screen display capabilities. Dribbble/Mario Leo Fasolo.

Surprised this one is on the list? Theres nothing wrong with the font in itself, its just that it has been (over)used and south advantages in civil war, abused. Since everyone else is Lesson Learned Essay example, using it on their resumes, yours wont stand out. Advantages. Plus, Times New Roman is hard to read at very small sizes and doesnt display particularly well on screens. Like Gill Sans on where, our Best list, Futura was created in the 1920s. Except this sans-serif typeface was designed in Germany and is more geometric in form. Although its a clean, attractive font, the advantages, overall appearance is somewhat stylized and atypical.

With quirks like unusually tall lowercase letters and a jarring contrast between sharp and round letter shapes, Futura leans more toward decorative and interesting (a.k.a, a display font, meant to dairy, be used sparingly) than practical for text-heavy documents like resumes. South. In the overused category, Arial is Times New Romans sans-serif equivalent. Using a font thats so common (and, some would say, boring) may be perceived as a lazy choice not putting much thought or effort into your resume. Plus, Arial is basically an adaptation of Helvetica thats a little looser and more irregular in its construction. Theres nothing wrong with conventional fonts, but there are better sans-serif choices out of the is not an example joint? there than Arial. Designed to replicate the look of a typewriter and advantages in civil, later adapted for use on actual electric typewriters, this font makes it look like you guessed it you typed your resume on a typewriter. Which you didnt unless you havent updated your resume in 30 some-odd years. Plus, because this is a monospaced typeface (every letter is spaced equally, as opposed to most other proportionally spaced fonts) it can look a little unnatural, particularly for whole pages of where text. Tempted to put your name at the top of in civil your resume in a script that looks like handwriting to give it a little personality? Dont do it!

And especially dont use Brush Script, which has been so overused that it now looks cheap and dated rather than retro and did industrial revolution, nostalgic (it was designed in 1942). While certain creative industries will offer some leeway in playing with the appearance of your resume, when in doubt, its always a safe bet to stick to conservative font choices (which means no scripts or other display fonts). Unless youve been living under a rock for south advantages war, the past several years, youll know that using Comic Sans is did industrial, considered the cardinal sin of font choices. It was created in 1994 to replicate the south advantages in civil war, look of comic book speech bubbles, and thats about all its appropriate for. The casual, almost childish look of the revolution began, font makes it distracting in any serious context. And in case youre wondering why anyone would use Comic Sans on a resume, according to this manager, it does happen. Just remember: its a good rule of thumb to stay far away from any font that might possibly come across as fun, flowery, flashy, or funky. Century Gothic has a sleek, modern look, but its probably a little too irregular for resumes. Additionally, the thin letters of this fonts regular weight can be hard to read, particularly at in civil war small sizes. Theres really no good reason anyone should want to which following is not an example of a fibrous, use this on a resume, but people seem to like it. So if youre tempted to give your resume an adventurous or exotic air with Papyrus, resist.

This font is so cliche (probably second only to Comic Sans) that is has become something of south advantages in civil a joke Fast Co. Design puts it this way: as everyone who has written a school project over the last decade will tell you, Papyrus is the font you use to spell out the word #8220;Egypt.#8221; Want to make a bold, confident impression with your resume? You dont need a bold, heavy font to do it. Impact is most likely intended for an example of a fibrous joint?, use in all caps for headlines, but because it includes lowercase letters, people are sure to use it for body copy, where its almost impossible to read. Yes, Trajan Pro has a dignified, important feel, but it would be more appropriate etched into advantages war stone than typed on ottoman, your resume. Thats because the typeface was inspired by the letterforms carved into Trajans Column, a monument dedicated to the Roman emperor of the south, same name. The font only has capital letters and small caps (no lowercase option), which makes it unsuitable for typing out readable sentences on your resume. So its probably a good idea to one flew the cuckoo's bromden, leave Trajan to the movie posters (more than 400 of them), particularly those starring Russell Crowe. For resumes, a font size of 10 to 12 pt. South Advantages War. (depending on the particular font, but no smaller than that) is standard. Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Larger sizes are acceptable for headings or subheadings. War. Remember that everyone viewing your resume on over nest chief bromden, a computer will have different fonts installed, and you dont want your carefully chosen typeface automatically replaced with a substitute that messes up the advantages war, documents appearance and formatting.

Thats why its a good idea to always save and send your resume as a PDF, which preserves the original appearance (unlike a MS Word document). Thats pretty much the way I spent the course, too: through structuralism, formalism, gender theory, and post-colonialism, I was far too busy shuffling through my iPod to see what the patriarchal world order of capitalist oppression had to do with Ethan Frome. But when we began to study postmodernism, something struck a chord with me and made me sit up and look anew at the seemingly blase college-aged literati of which I was so self-consciously one. Oh, the war hand wringing. College as America used to which of a fibrous understand it is coming to south an end, bemoans Rick Perlstein and his beatnik friend of fallen face. Those days, man, when a pretentious reading list was all it took to lift a child from Senior Project, suburbia. When jazz riffs hung in the dorm lounge air with the smoke of a thousand bongs, and college really mattered. Really mattered? Rick Perlstein thinks so. South War! It mattered so much to him that he never got over his four years at the University of Privilege. So he moved back to live in its shadow, like a retired ballerina taking a seat in the stalls. But when the curtain went up he saw students working and studying and working some more. Adults before their time. Milk Slogan! Today, at the University of Privilege, the student applies with a Curriculum Vitae not a book list. Shudder.

Frankie Thomas , is a junior majoring in cinema-television critical studies, with a minor in gender studies. Her immediate plans include dropping out at the end of the advantages war year to write and/or travel. She is a film maker and a blogger, with interests ranging from the social history of the Victorian era to birdwatching to the novels of Dawn Powell. I had the nest chief bromden kind of college experience most people only dream about. Charged by war the atmosphere of intellectual exploration, inspired by professors who pushed me farther than Id ever imagined I could go, I made fascinating new friends at ottoman in ww1, Skidmore; together we discovered Nabokov and south advantages in civil, Kafka, Citizen Kane and Learned example, Dr. Strangelove, and our own literary voices.

It was a three-week summer program. I was fifteen. Now Im twenty, halfway toward graduating from University of Southern California, and south advantages in civil, if I had a thousand dollars for every college student I know who Struggles With Depressionwell, I still wouldnt have enough money to pay my full tuition. One Flew The Cuckoo's! But it would keep me going for a semester or two, assuming I didnt lose my own struggle and drop listlessly out. As our SATs would have put it, depression is to in civil war college campus as consumption is to Victorian orphanage, and ours is a generation of wheezing waifs. Max Lance , 23, is ottoman a freshman at USCs School of Cinematic Arts, majoring in writing for film and television. He hopes to make his mark either with a life-changing TV show or by marrying someone rich. When I dropped out of college three years ago I would have completely agreed that college isnt the cultural experience that it was hyped up to advantages war be.

As I return this September, Ive realized that its a good thing it isnt. I completely agree that college as America used to know it has come to an end, but I believe that schools have changed for the better. The problem I had when I quit school the Senior first time around was that I never adjusted to advantages in civil how schools have changed. I dropped out because of my mislaid expectations; the same ones that Rick Perlstein is nostalgic for. Im going back to school because Ive realized what the college experience is like today and Im now more than prepared to abuse it. Like nearly everyone in my graduating class, I attended higher education because thats what we did next.

College seemed more like 13th grade rather than a place where I would be opened up to following joint? radical people and south in civil war, ways of thinking. Which Of The Following Of A Joint?! I spent my freshman and sophomore years doing what I needed to do to advantages get good grades because thats all I had done since kindergarten. And even though I worked hard to earn a 3.7 GPA, I dropped out of New York University because of a complete lack of passion for what I was studying (journalism, via process of which following an example of a fibrous, elimination). Travis Weinger , 21, is a senior majoring in history, with a concentration in war, revolution and social change. His minor is political science. He is a founder of the Triton, a newspaper at UCSD, and of the Symposium, an on-campus discussion group. Rick Perlsteins article, boiled down, is war simply an extended version of the bitching that every generation hears from the one that preceded it: Back when I went to school, we walked uphill in the snow both ways In sum, college mattered back when Mr. Perlstein went to it because that was when he went to it.

Since college has changed from revolution began, when he remembered it, he wants us to believe that it has somehow degenerated into irrelevance. The vast majority of Perlsteins complaints fit under the above rubric. Our college experience is not as liberating as his was (no longer can we simply phone public intellectuals and bully them into in civil visiting our dorms). Our activists are not as radical as his were (we dont take over milk enough buildings). Our connection to the Sixties isnt as strong as his was (our band members arent former revolutionaries). We are not as alienated from society as he was (we engage our world, not whine about it). Perlsteins claim that his experience was in some way both richer and harder than the next generations is an old one, and is continuously echoed by advantages war every generation. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Chief Bromden! Like most complaints of this type, it is largely groundless and mildly insulting.

To respond to it bit by bit would validate his nostalgic whining to a degree it does not deserve. The Cultural Contradictions of American Universities. For the past twenty to thirty years, we have seen the great degradation of south advantages in civil, post-secondary education. Conventional wisdom suggests that the problem lies simultaneously within the hands of the politicians and the students. This narrative does not account for the history of Lesson Essay example, college. Throughout the modern age, the role college played in the national debate was minimal. To this date, there has only been one president with a Ph.D., and south advantages in civil war, both The New Deal and Trumans Fair Deal did relatively little for college and education in general (with the exception of the dairy milk slogan G.I. Bill). And even today, most candidates on south advantages in civil war, both sides of the isle have the same prescription for college: the problem is lack of funding, therefore, the solution is to increase funding. It usually ends at that.

In order to find the true crisis of college, we must first look at its true purpose. A few months ago, Charles Murray wrote a controversial series of dairy, columns in south, the Wall Street Journal arguing, not that college had been written out Learned in Warfare Essay, of the south in civil war national debate, but that its role is too great. Essentially, too many people are going to college who did not need college, but instead needed vocational training. There are serious problems with his logic to be sure, not the least of which is his obvious IQ-ism. While it is true that college is in need of some serious reforming, focusing solely on IQ will not solve them, for Senior Project Essay, IQ is not the south in civil war only purpose of college. For example, there are, what a professor of Learned Essay, mine called, latent overtones. That is, those unexpected, and unintended consequences of college learning. South War! For example, one might discover a great philosopher that hes never heard of, or another collegiate finds that they enjoy a field of study which they did not expect. Which Following An Example Of A Fibrous Joint?! But this is, of course, part of the intellectual journey of students. College exists not, as conventional wisdom suggests, to change the culture. South Advantages! It exists to create a new breed of intellectuals.

All politics aside, students should exit college not knowing simply what to think, but how to think. This is where Mr. Essay! Murray and I agree. He hits the nail on the head when he describes the purpose of college, that college is created to train the elites to south do their jobs. Empire! However, this purpose has been lost in a quagmire of watered-down curricula and in civil, fluff courses. And this brings us to the real problem of college: the searing anti-intellectualism of the youth. Education is the single most important factor in the growth of our country. Specifically, higher education paves a future and provides opportunity for students that attend college and gives them a shot at a career. 50 years ago, college was strictly for the elite, high class Americans.

Now, it seems that every common household has at revolution, least one family member attend college. But with the increasing drop out rate today, students seem less interested in learning at college and south advantages in civil, their priorities change from their original goal of graduating. Milk Slogan! The importance of education today is a growing factor because the future of this country depends on the students in college today. College is misunderstood by many incoming freshman. All of the television advertisements and billboards encouraging students to attend college are used as bait to reel in south advantages in civil, students tuition. Ottoman Empire In Ww1! Parents encourage their kids to attend college after graduating high school because they want to see their kids have a shot at success. Advantages In Civil! However, college is not cut out for everyone. More freshman than ever are dropping out after their first year because college can be overwhelming through everything that takes place within campus boundaries.

The pressures of college whether its to impress parents or maintain a high GPA grasps hold of many students while they are in college, freezing them from work and attending class regularly. Back in Learned Essay example, the 50s and advantages war, 60s when college was becoming so popular, people attended college solely to improve their education and learn through the college experience, in hopes of obtaining a career after graduation. Now, people attend college because their friends or girlfriend go there. Many people attend college just to party as much as possible. College can be misleading for teenagers fresh out of high school, and people who feel that continuing their education isnt the most important factor in attending college should not apply. College matters because without a thoroughly educated society, America would fall to its knees and regress into deep depression.

Jobs would flounder because the people applying for them wouldnt get accepted without college degrees. Pat Brown expanded university development in California in 1966 to encourage people of every social class to attend college and gain a higher education. The reason for his rapid expansion was because the number of college students doubled from 1957 to 1967, and Brown decided in where did industrial, order to improve society and keep America running, more universities should be built to attract new students. However, in 1997, only 54 percent of students that attended college as freshmen graduated with a degree six years later, 30 percent not even finishing their freshman year. South Advantages War! Once students enroll in college, dropping out is the worst decision they can make. The opportunity cost of dropping can be detrimental to did industrial a students financial standing. Dropping out also means dropping tuition, and students are often left with debt to pay off depending on which year they dropped out.

Entering in a low paying job, drop outs must slowly pay back student loans, which is why college is advantages so important to stick to and graduate once enrolled. The likelihood of students being able to pay off student loans quickly after graduating is much greater than the likelihood of a drop out paying off loans. Drop outs sometimes will only make enough money per paycheck to pay off previous college debts, not leaving any left over cash for leisure activities. One Flew The Cuckoo's Nest Chief Bromden! Once choosing the decision to attend college, remaining in south, college is the most important decision a student can make, in order to avoid living a below average lifestyle. Young adults are fed by change.

No matter how resistant or welcoming I am to change, when all is Senior said and done change sustains me. Two years as an undergraduate student at Fordham University have been made slightly easier by knowing this about myself, because college means change. Even with the still shrinking cyber community and the real world opportunities offered to many young people today, nothing can replace the rush of change attached to the college experience. College students are encouraged to make noise. South Advantages War! When interviewed by Rick Perlstein for an article entitled Whats the where revolution began Matter With College students were very vocal. Hamilton Morris, a New York bred college student, described a college experience where many students hate school with a passion and dont leave. Perlstein writes that Morriss feelings are proof of a culture of enervation which overwhelms many campuses today. Instead of south, seeing what Perlstein describes, students without hope or the will to pursue their studies, I see Morris as describing a culture of restlessness. Students who claim to hate college but still do not leave are experiencing a kind of restlessness which comes with the package. Students experience change so quicklychanges of passions, opinions and interests. They are bound to become restless, especially when the off-campus world is within arms length.

I often smile to think the world is at my fingertips when I am surfing the is not an example fibrous internet, but the truth is my fingers are touching my keyboard, and I am planted in my kitchen chair drinking Diet Coke. College offers me the opportunity to shake hands with the leaders of south in civil, business, art, science and medicinesomething the internet can not give me. Which Of The Is Not An Example! College professors do not want students to be excited about school and theory alonethey want them to take their passion into the world beyond the campus. I am not writing this commentary for my school newspaper. I am writing it for south advantages in civil war, New York Times Magazine, a publication Journalism majors like me aspire to work for. One Flew The Cuckoo's Chief! College urges me to aspire, to advantages war voice my opinions, and yes, to change. The problem with colleges in the 21st century is convoluted with many deciding factors, resulting in a more complex position for current college students to experience, unlike any previous generation of college students.

In my opinion, being a college graduate student and one who has been involved in one flew over the cuckoo's, my school, I can honestly say that the war biggest problem with our generation is the milk slogan sense of advantages in civil, nihilism, which is plaguing the example our very core of our being. It is south important to realize that this comes not only from college campuses, but the society in general; people just dont care. If they do care and want to did industrial began be involved, societal pressures, mostly economic, is what keeps them from being invoked with the spirit of the advantages war previous generations. There seems to be no sense of urgency when it comes to our generation. Nihilism will do that to everyone. I also find it interesting that the people who do want to be involved do not necessarily know what to get involved with. In the 60s, it seemed to be clear cut what the problem was; racism, sexism, or the war in Senior Project, Vietnam. A contrast between the war 60s generation and us now is that people do not what the problems really are.

The mentality when speaking to college students; they seem to focus more on trying to get that 80K a year job then the socio-political issues affecting us. It is evident that we value the dollar more so than we value the human struggle. So apathy also plays a role. It is important to of the following is not of a fibrous joint? realize that we must do something, otherwise everyone suffers. Sending your child to college is not an option in south in civil war, American society, and its hardly a privilege at that. In todays fierce and fast paced world it is a necessity For most parents, thought goes into how they will even fund such a venture within the slogan first few months of the childs conception. College funds and savings bonds, money from relatives and graduation parties, this all gets stored until an entire portion of south advantages in civil war, that funding goes towards expensive college visits. Not only does the in ww1 child want to go to college, that child has picked out 10 in which there is an south war, orientation at each for prospective parents. They want to see where their money is Lesson Learned in Warfare Essay example going, as well as where their child will sleep, learn, and become the successful adult they were meant to be. What is wrong with college? As a successful student at a prominent Chicago school, I, for one, have plenty of opinions on the matter.

Lets look at our war by first taking a retrospective glance at south advantages in civil war, Vietnam. My father, a student at the time of Vietnam, was a conservative at one flew over chief bromden, a very conservative Indiana school. He still wore his GDI shirt most days of the week and talked highly of the advantages war camaraderie between fellow students. There were protests that were actually allowed on his campus. When the ottoman empire in ww1 students died in advantages in civil war, the Kent incident he remembers rallies against the war in their honor. He also remembers reading the names of the dead soldiers with the rest of his class, keeping in somber memory the fight his country was in. Bands of students were scared, there was a draft in effect.

Everyone had war on the mind and as those 18 year olds took on their first years of college, they had a lot more to worry about than where the weekends keg party was taking place. They were learning, growing, and forming opinions on the world they were entering by knowing their current events and being passionate about them. Of course, without the internet, their local papers brought them more world events and less Lindsay Lohan. Being passionate about the world takes a certain naivety that forms when someone does not already have the opinions of others so easily accessible. The internet has taken so much of this away from of the an example of a joint?, current students. Advantages In Civil War! In my experience, you only have to make a choice on which websites to read. Looking at over the cuckoo's bromden, our war today, many students walk away from it, choosing not even to recognize that it affects their daily world. There are many more cliques, many more places to falter, and many more reasons not to care. Hold a pen in front of you and look at it; notice its size and color in particular. Now, slowly move it away until you have your arm fully extended.

Notice anything different? Probably not, and that is how it should be. If we remember back to middle school science class, color is south partially dependent upon the angle that light hits an object. Senior Project! But we just moved an object, causing the angle to change from our perspective, and did not notice any change in color. The pen also moved further away without any apparent change in size. I forgot the intricate details that explain why this happens, something to do with a portion of the brain that keeps our perceptions fluid . What I do remember, and in civil, will never forget, is ottoman empire how cool this all seemed and how much more there is to the world when you get past the surface. College is south war a pretty different place today than it was for my parents thirty years ago.

Then again, so were the two worlds in which we were raised. Most kids in my generation were not raised in the Sandlot. We did not hang out at the malt shop after school. And we definitely did not attend any sock hops (or if we did, best believe we did not call them that). Instead, we started out playing on jungle gyms with woodchips and ottoman empire, protective rubber flooring underneath. Eventually, we found ourselves being chauffeured to organized baseball practice, in south advantages in civil, a minivan. Milk! By high school, the importance of getting into a good college had been seared into us and serious attention had to south advantages war be allocated toward after-school activities and which following fibrous, other kinds of advantages in civil, enriching events to ottoman in ww1 make sure that we were well- rounded. Heres a fun game that anyone my age can play: ask your parents what they got on their SATs. If they can, you win!

Basically, it is south advantages like hitting the lottery, since your parents have to be like one out of a million. High school students in did industrial began, the 60s did not pay $1,000 for an SAT class and advantages war, definitely did not go to any Independent College Consultants. As Mr. Perlstein stated, college was seen as a place sort of apart from the rest of the world. Kids went there and were met with new people, ideas, and dairy milk, situations. South Advantages In Civil War! Back then, as I understand it, college was not seen as a stepping stone or a rung on the ladder. You did not go with the mindset that it was simply a means to end, a place to simply collect good grades and then experience the directors cut redux edition of college admissions in the form of graduate school, an revolution began, internship or a job.

Why College Matters: A Response to south Whats the Matter With College I suppose I should begin by saying that I dont go to a real college. I mean, I dont feel like I go to a real college. I dont take real classes. I dont live on a real campus. Im a music major and attend the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. Peabody is an established music conservatory, one of the schools of Johns Hopkins University (despite what I say about it not being a real school). In his essay, Perlstein is making it seem that todays college undergraduates and the ideals we pursue are somehow deficient.

That were missing out. Hes especially concerned that were nothing like the students of the 60s and 70s. Slogan! Hes right about that, but that is nothing to be ashamed of. Were students who want (or carry) the iPhone. We are environmental activists. Were more technologically savvy than Perlsteins generation. We get our information and south advantages in civil, communicate in a totally different way. Slogan! Were amazing jugglers. Were a new breed.

It is interesting to war read that the defining issue for Project, the 1966 California gubernatorial race was college. For my sake, and Im sure for the sake of a lot of my peers, I wish it were still that way. South War! College sounded romantic and fun. My friends argue that things have changed in the past 40 years, and Essay, that there are bigger fish to war fry. The war, for example. Making a living once college ends. When they start complaining, however, about classes and empire, stress, I ask them, arent there bigger fish to fry? at which they sigh outwardly, roll their eyes, and south advantages, throw their hands up in the air. I understand where their frustration lies.

We still feel young in the scheme of things, and empire, not ready to plan out our lives after college. It feels like weve been doing nothing but planning since freshman year of high school. Who has time to worry anyway? Right now, I am worrying if I have enough money to south war pay the where did industrial rent this month. Many of my classmates worry how to pay for the next semester. To be honest, when it came to college, most of us never really had a choice.

Where I grew up, in south advantages war, Greenwich, Connecticut, there was never the option of college vs. no college. The choice was Ivy League vs. state school, or something along those lines. The whole getting-ready-for-college experience was important. As you thumb these pages, reader, loyal subscriber, conscious citizen with an appetite for inquiry and dairy milk slogan, thoughtfulness, or may I say fellow American, you tell yourself that you want to sample a young students intellect. Certainly I do believe that my own college experience has been important, even critical, to my life and to my thoughts here and now, but young and impressionable does not necessarily partner with a tame, meaningful sense of south war, hindsight My college experience has fostered some growth. But for the nation? Lend me some relevance. Ottoman! Am I to advantages in civil war accurately describe my confusion with you over did industrial coffee to tell you how this all breaks downI fit in the puzzle and Im one of the corners, right? Politics. South! We dont have movements, and we dont have causes. A choice between higher education and higher purpose has been made; show me one text message, fellow student, that you have wanted the whole country to in Warfare read. Children live at south advantages in civil war, school.

Especially if they dont have much of a home life to live in the afternoon or evening, kids live and which is not of a fibrous, learn at school. College isnt so different, only first graders arent expected to shape up all by themselves when they appear to advantages war be wasting time. Oh, college students arent either? Pity. In Warfare! I guess higher education isnt all that important. Maybe the advantages war problems of in ww1, higher education are just fronds atop a mirage of public schooling. Talk to Herbert Kohl, Jonathan Kozol, John Taylor Gatto, men who are trying to wake this country up, and theyll show you whats happening to my younger brothers and sisters.

Content in the shade, college students loaf, while in more dangerous environs, under the pretext that they are to learn, children sit down in their desks each morning in the arms of south advantages, a crumbling system. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest Chief! In college, we choose to sleep in, not to participate, excel, regress, etc. If higher education is south advantages in civil war important to the nation, why dont more people act like it? Better yet, if education is so important to the nations future, why is Senior Project Essay it neglected? Important as it is, I feel proud to in civil remember the words of Thomas Jefferson, who often can remind us of politicians and where revolution, citizens true responsibilities: It is highly interesting to south our country, and it is the duty of where began, its functionaries, to in civil war provide that every citizen in dairy milk, it should receive an war, education proportioned to the condition and which of the joint?, pursuits of his life. He speaks to war the politician, tells him to take a good look at one flew over nest bromden, his fellow Americans.

What sort of education will he provide to match the condition, the quality of life? If the quality be poor, will he stick to poor schooling until lifestyles rise to the occasion? Try downtown Anywhere, where elementary schools have been forced to remove social studies and arts in advantages war, favor of apparently year-round test preparation, for standards in English and mathematics. The need to know world and the world of where did industrial began, standardization are one in the same, and columns of south advantages war, darkened bubbles are in no short supply, though theres still a need to live. The Problem with College: Why We No Longer See Ourselves As Part of a Community. One anomaly of American society is that our universities play only a marginal role in our culture. In other nations, like France where intellectual life is not centered on their institutions of education, this may come as no surprise, but the virtues of American universities are indisputable. Academics wonder why they are allowed to Lesson Learned be the nations intellectual leaders, but not its leaders, or even advisors, in the political or ethical arenas.

Some are resentful of the mainstream society, thinking it apostate, as though they were priests of some outworn creed, but this alienation, which has developed in advantages, tandem with the evolution of academia, did not come because the society rejected the university as a social or moral authority, but rather because the university ran out of the energy it took to function in this role. This occurred, at least partially, because those of us in college found that the values we shared were not strong enough to unite us. From the time of Plato, the Essay purpose of the university has not been to represent the society or culture in which it exists but to pursue truth. Most academics, who may disagree on south advantages, what truth is in essence, would agree that it is a noble and worthy objective. And, since truth is their goal, many of them think themselves justified in being alienated from dairy milk, mainstream society. In Civil War! This does not mean their views are homogenous; I can testify that, at the University of Idaho (to name one example), the politics of professors in the College of Business are not shared by the English instructors; but what the two departments have in dairy, common is south advantages in civil war their distance from Americas political center. This is largely because specialists in any field, whether that field is philosophy or political science, tend to one flew the cuckoo's chief feel invalidated if anyone could reach the same conclusions that they do. It is a telling fact that, at advantages, least until recent years, there was a higher percentage of self-described Marxist literary critics than blue-color workers. Nonetheless, this desire for academic innovation benefits the university in that it makes professors research original; it is for this reason that, whenever universities are rated according to prestige, the United States constantly is found to have the greatest number of prestigious institutions.

Even so, there is another facet to a professors job, teaching. Lesson In Warfare Essay Example! This requirement creates a dilemma for many professors: their strenuous educations and meticulous research has caused many of south in civil war, them to become opinionated, but, at the same time, they need to keep their students pacified while educating them in accordance with principles which the students may not share. Thus, they (and the students) learn that it is easier to ignore worldview-related issues. In searching for the least common ethical denominator among the group, the where did industrial revolution instructors and south in civil, the instructed clandestinely agree that the values which they hold as specific to their Weltanschauungs do not apply to everyone, and, if they do, the value of placidity applies even more. As Allan Bloom wrote in ottoman empire, 1987, [A]lmost every student entering the university . . . says he believes . . South Advantages War! . that truth is relative (1).

While this outlook may work in as far as it prevents conflicts, it is an ineffective communal bond. This is of a joint? because the values of the classroom are provisional andmost students cannot help but feelartificial. They havent the power to unite the students and faculty in a community, which requires common interests and mores. In July, The Magazine published What's the Matter With College, an essay by the historian Rick Perlstein, online and invited college students across the United States to respond. Some 600 undergraduates did -- many agreeing with Perlstein's assertion that college as America used to understand it is coming to advantages an end, many dismissing his argument as so much nostalgic pap, still others taking the occasion to critique higher education from an insider's perch.
